If you follow or even slightly enjoy college basketball or basketball in general than it’s a must you fill out a bracket “bracketology” . ESPN has folks sign up every year for this. This year it was sponsored by All State Insurance.
It is estimated that tens of millions of people fill out March Madness tourney brackets every year; 8.15 million brackets were entered in ESPN’s Tourney Challenge alone.
Over 60,000 brackets were filled out by Facebook users in Yahoo!’s Tourney Pick’em game and Yahoo! was kind enough to share their data with us. We observe most users’ age, educational background, team and athletic page likes, location, and estimate the effect these have on how people fill out their brackets.
I signed up for one on espn. I did well but I didn’t win. I guess getting a rank of 435,107 with a PCT of 94.7 isn’t too bad out of 8.15 million. Although I didn’t win squat other than some bragging rights to the group I was in which only goes so far.
Oh well that’s the beauty of March Madness…. There is always next year to win the big one. It’s the closest thing we have to the lottery in Utah so I can always hope ha.
There are so many ways to guess, pick or choose who can run all the way to the end of the Road to the final 4. There isn’t a right or wrong way to picking and that’s all the fun in the madness… “Never really knowing” who could be this years Cinderella Like Wichita St. VCU years earlier among many other great solid teams. That’s probably one of the factors that really just entice and keep people so excited about March Madness.
The tourney really stress’s strategy for coaches, along with stamina for players. It’s one of my personal favorite times of year. Except football isn’t on ;/ But hey can’t win them all.
I picked Louisville and am glad they won, not because Kevin Ware broke his leg, but because Rick Pitino is a Great coach and made it to the Hall of Fame recently! He will also have a new tattoo soon. Good for the Cardinal Basketball program and team. They were fundamentally sound and played well as a team.
It’s a very big thing for the Cardinals to bring the title back to Kentucky a year after their in state dreaded Rival the “Kentucky Wildcats” did it previously. Shows how strong the East side of the country is in basketball.
Shout out to the Wolverines and Big 10 for putting on a hell of a run as well. They have a bright future with a solid 4-5 freshman on the come up

Mark Shurtleff has been in the Attorney General’s office for so long that you really have to dig back to remember everything that has happened through his tenor. The Salt Lake Tribune once again spells out how deep you have to go back and really just how close the Former and now Current AG’s office, Division of Consumer Protections Office, and Governor really are to business’s, MLM’s, and other side deals.
I find it amusing how quick Francine Giani and The Utah Dept of Consumer Protections is to point the finger and as they really try to blame and separate themselves from the AG’s office when really they operate with all the same attorney’s, they communicate frequently, share information among each other and other behind the curtain things the public has no idea about.
They know each other’s cases very well. A good way to draw it up Is almost like that evil 3 headed serpent that you have to attack. However they muddy the waters as much as they can so there won’t ever be any clarity from The Governor’s office, The Division of Consumer Protections or The Attorney General’s office.
They all abuse their powers, play the semantics, and blame the business’s. They need direct guidelines and rule. Not these vague laws that walk small business owners down a nasty path. The reason they are vague is so that these elected officials can walk both sides of the fence and it’s really disturbing.
I find it funny the Division of Consumer Protection is fining another business over a licensing issue instead of giving them a realistic fine “without the Shock factor” that is pro business, maybe like get them in compliance with the state first.
Who didn’t Green Tea pay off? Apparently Mark Shurtleff and John Swallow got paid for it? Is this why Francine Giani The Division of Consumer Protections always go behind the Attorney General’s back and fine the people they get money from? Jealously?…
There is a lot more that goes on behind the scenes that people aren’t aware of. When is Utah going to elect some re presentable and ethical politicians in Utah? Yeah that’s right… Even Francine Giani Plays the fierce game of politics and special interests in Utah right with the good ol boys.
I guess I won’t beat the drum much more on this post about Utah’s Corruption here in the State. I just find it sad no one has carried John Swallow along with his friends out of office as this mess continues to unwind. “including the Governor and Francine“
You have to be naive not to see there is a fine level of corruption in Utah. From the governor’s office, to the Division of Consumer Protection on over to the Attorney General’s Office.

I would like to give a shout out to a good friend and a guy that has battled the rap streets a long time here in Utah.
Every Since I have known Alex Mamatuki which dates back to 7th grade which is now about 15 years previously from now in 2013, his passion has been rap, basketball, ladies among other good things.
Alex is a good guy and always there if you need him. He has done many good things for Utah’s underground battle scene. It’s great to see and hear him traveling more out of state and putting it down for Utahans. Along with getting some publicity. The guy works extremely hard on his raps and anything he puts his mind to.
Feel free to get a feel for one of his many different styles-
Mamatuki is quoted in the Salt Lake City weekly as saying “You have to be witty,” Mamatuki says. “Every flaw you can think of about yourself, flip it. … Make your weaknesses your strength.”
I hope Alex continues to do well as he has done for so many years! Good Job Homie and hope it comes big for ya!

Has anyone noticed that we have a drug, pill, or some type of medication that we can take for almost any symptom out there? I find it disturbing that we can go out to the pharmaceutics industry and find a poorly regulated industry that is sucking and ruining the live’s of so many Americans.
We have people struggling every day with addictions, along with the heart break, crime and every day violence that comes along with this painful prescriptions. We want to even give the addicts a pill for their addiction… If that makes sense?
More kids are typing from over doses than ever before. I personally am not a fan of pills, I understand it helps some clients in real pain. However, I believe it gets to a point where we have to walk a fine line with what we are feeding and pumping into society.
Most normal folks don’t understand most doctors get a referral or kickback “money” off of writing you a prescription. Of course the Doc has to feel comfortable prescribing that prescription How can we tell when a doctor is just wanting to push a prescription through?
Hopefully you trust your doctor…
I mean I wouldn’t sit here and complain if this wasn’t the 11th Consecutive year that the death rate has gone up. I was speaking to an officer the other day that works in West Valley City about homicide.
I asked the officer what do you see most deaths related to here in Utah?
He said “just this other week in February 2013 he had 3 dead bodies to investigate over alcohol mixed with prescription drugs or synthetic heroin “oxy’s”. It’s sad that we are shoving death pills down our society!
We should really take a loot at the pill problem that America has as should be a much larger concern than it is right now! Many innocent lives are being ruined by the “pill abyss”
John Swallow isn’t out of the woods just yet. According to a few on the Capitol Hill it sounds as if they are quietly speaking about many different scenarios with John Swallow. Although Impeachment has been short lived. Another cycle of John Swallow Stories Broke out about the current AG’s ethics of what he did and didn’t say. We just hope in a time like this, that Utah shapes up and really draws some serious lines on campaign donation reforms among many other ethical issues our public servants face daily.
What do our Utah government officials really do?
We have a lot of pollution people are speaking about. We have questionable State contracts, bribe scandals, along with other various issues. There are two groups hitting Governor Herbert for slacking with pollution not to mention having controversial contracts and donations.
I believe Governor Herbert is a friend and supporter of Shurtleff and Swallow. I have personally seen when a complain made to Governor Herbert’s office in which this complaint was made against a State Agency under the Governor’s authority and he has passed off the complaint, he didn’t offer help, he didn’t even comment and referred it directly back to the State agency the complaint was orignially made about.
From the sounds of all these reports it would seem all these “low paying” political seats are really worth getting as it’s all about raising money instead of helping the public or this State. Pretty sad that it’s taken such dramatic events to even get a small light on what these political power houses do here in Utah.
Jeremy Johnson held an interview last night with Fox 13 news about What Johnson Calls “Swallows Shake Down” . Johnson has changed his tone and view on Swallow and this is just the latest turn in the crazy story line. Also Jeremy Johnson’s lawyer Nathan Crane has asked to withdrawal himself from the case which is a little bit explained by Johnson in the video below.
Also Swallow has told and believed to promise Johnson a lot of things:
Over the course of the conversations, Johnson says he told Swallow paying Rawle would take all the money he had for a defense attorney, ”and his exact words were ‘trust me Jeremy, this is better than an attorney. You won’t need an attorney.’”
Which doesn’t seemed far fetched of Mr. Swallow to say this. I mean if he is willing to speak about “burner phones” from Walmart what else can we expect John Swallow to speak about?
Gary Herbert finally speaks out about the John Swallow scandal and confirms that he believes we need ethic reforms but maintains the fact that John Swallow made some mistakes. I find it appalling that Governor Herbert can say that we need an ethics panel but he will still allow Swallow to retain his post even after his “ethic lapse”.
Gary Herbert doesn’t want an investigation either because he has done just as much dirt if not more shady and back door dealings just like Mark Shurtleff and John Swallow.
Only a few of the small examples would be, DABC (liquor) problems, UDOT problems, Now a Swallow Scandal. Sounds like the governor is having a free for all in office. Keep in mind this is a short rattling of a long list of shady dealings with these guys. Most Utahans are shocked that the Utah GOP would even agree to an ethics reform. “well over due”.
Hell I will be honest… I am surprised The Governor got behind Ethics reform! I am stunned that he said Swallow would only need to resign if he were convicted??? Sounds like the whole office from the Governor down has Ethic issues… You can say Mr. Swallow didn’t break the law, however if we are going to change the laws and rules because of this scenario, obviously Mr. Swallow shouldn’t be in office and is doing some unethical things. It goes much farther than putting and ethics committee together. Especially if the ones violating the ethics put the Committee in place? Not very Smart Utah!
