John Swallow Clearly, lied to the people of Utah. John Swallow among others lied to the people of Utah: Campaign employees, Mark Shurtleff, Jason Powers, John’s Attorneys, his wife, and other politicians I am sure all lied to the people of this State.
Utahan’s should feel dumb for blindly voting for this guy and a little enraged that pretty much all of Capitol Hill new about these scandals before the elections.
We really have to assume anyone related or attached to Jason Powers have their hands dirty as well? Or am I thinking along on this? Utah has to step up on this and demand that the house finish their investigate work and take anyone down that has their hand in this dirty kettle pot.
Ryan Scott Jensen from Utah has been following this John Swallow situation for a while. This is a solid article that gives you a very accurate Time line on John Swallow’s financial reporting sheets. According to Utah Political Capitol John Swallow altered his financial statements which they show you flat out two different version’s of the A. G.’s filings.
You’d think with more sunlight would come more clarity and eventually Swallow’s name would be cleared. However this story just adds another twist leaving more questions and concerns about the Current A.G. among many years from the past with Mark Shurtleff at the realm.
When is enough enough for this office and the Capital? The Governor needs to Slide his friend John Swallow a friendly note explaining he needs to step down so the Office and Utah Cabinet can move forward with the public’s interest.

Call it Johnson’s War — with Jeremy Johnson as commander in chief.
The indicted and sued St. George businessman is waging high-tech, low-cost battles against his federal tormentors through YouTube videos, websites, Facebook, Twitter, a blog and interviews with the mainstream media.
The Swallow case
Indicted St. George businessman Jeremy Johnson has alleged that Utah’s new attorney general, John Swallow, helped broker payoffs to enlist the aid of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in derailing a Federal Trade Commission investigation of Johnson’s I Works business.
Swallow and Reid have vehemently denied the allegations. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has said it is investigating.
He appears to be taking no prisoners:
• Johnson’s YouTube videos accuse federal prosecutors of threatening to indict his family if he doesn’t plead guilty in his criminal case in which he asserts his innocence.
• He lobs witness-tampering allegations on YouTube at a Federal Trade Commission attorney.
• He indicts the agency’s actions on his EvilFTC.com website, which he promotes on Twitter.
• On Facebook, an “[Unofficial Fan Page] United States Attorney for the District of Utah” draws negative comments about prosecutors.
• And Johnson levels similar accusations in interviews with reporters.
His has been a months-long assault, but now federal prosecutors in Utah are fed up and trying to halt it. They’ve asked a federal judge in Salt Lake City to order Johnson to stop making statements to the news media and to dismantle his online offensive.
This type of effort from a defendant is unusual, but — with the rise of the Internet and social media — people such as Johnson now have a variety of tools at their fingertips to fight such a guerrilla war against their persecutors.
The FTC sued Johnson and his I Works company in 2010, alleging it illegally charged consumers’ credit and debit cards monthly fees after luring them with offers of products for small fees.
This is just a small shot of the article so go to the Salt Lake Tribune for the full version.

Good Catch up from the past…. We often forget things after a few years. This is a good refresh course.
With Recent stories of John Swallow and Jeremy Johnson’s bribery scheme going on. I thought it would be fitting to tie in another conversation John Swallow had with Aaron Christner and Ryan Scott Jensen a few month previously to all of this while he was running for AG’s off and campaigning for the Attorney General of Utah position.
This is a pattern of unethical performance and terrible poor judgement on Mr. Swallow’s part. Many local newspapers called for his resignation along with many other bloggers and media outlets eating up this story about John Swallow and the Feds.
John Swallow isn’t out of the woods just yet. According to a few on the Capitol Hill it sounds as if they are quietly speaking about many different scenarios with John Swallow. Although Impeachment has been short lived. Another cycle of John Swallow Stories Broke out about the current AG’s ethics of what he did and didn’t say. We just hope in a time like this, that Utah shapes up and really draws some serious lines on campaign donation reforms among many other ethical issues our public servants face daily.
What do our Utah government officials really do?
We have a lot of pollution people are speaking about. We have questionable State contracts, bribe scandals, along with other various issues. There are two groups hitting Governor Herbert for slacking with pollution not to mention having controversial contracts and donations.
I believe Governor Herbert is a friend and supporter of Shurtleff and Swallow. I have personally seen when a complain made to Governor Herbert’s office in which this complaint was made against a State Agency under the Governor’s authority and he has passed off the complaint, he didn’t offer help, he didn’t even comment and referred it directly back to the State agency the complaint was orignially made about.
From the sounds of all these reports it would seem all these “low paying” political seats are really worth getting as it’s all about raising money instead of helping the public or this State. Pretty sad that it’s taken such dramatic events to even get a small light on what these political power houses do here in Utah.
Gary Herbert finally speaks out about the John Swallow scandal and confirms that he believes we need ethic reforms but maintains the fact that John Swallow made some mistakes. I find it appalling that Governor Herbert can say that we need an ethics panel but he will still allow Swallow to retain his post even after his “ethic lapse”.
Gary Herbert doesn’t want an investigation either because he has done just as much dirt if not more shady and back door dealings just like Mark Shurtleff and John Swallow.
Only a few of the small examples would be, DABC (liquor) problems, UDOT problems, Now a Swallow Scandal. Sounds like the governor is having a free for all in office. Keep in mind this is a short rattling of a long list of shady dealings with these guys. Most Utahans are shocked that the Utah GOP would even agree to an ethics reform. “well over due”.
Hell I will be honest… I am surprised The Governor got behind Ethics reform! I am stunned that he said Swallow would only need to resign if he were convicted??? Sounds like the whole office from the Governor down has Ethic issues… You can say Mr. Swallow didn’t break the law, however if we are going to change the laws and rules because of this scenario, obviously Mr. Swallow shouldn’t be in office and is doing some unethical things. It goes much farther than putting and ethics committee together. Especially if the ones violating the ethics put the Committee in place? Not very Smart Utah!
